Linking Land & Sea

Location: Coastal Mendocino, Humboldt, and Del Norte Counties

Funding Organizations: California Coastal Conservancy

Cooperating Agencies: Natural Resources Services Division of Redwood Community Action Agency, Pacific Marine Conservation Council, California Coastal Conservancy, and NOAA - Coastal Services Center

Project Date (Y-M-D):

The primary purpose of the Linking Land and Sea project was to assess and document the need for regional strategic coastal (marine and terrestrial) conservation planning; and to determine and describe the priority needs of coastal conservation organizations in Mendocino, Humboldt, and Del Norte Counties.

Information for this project was gathered through interviews with and surveys completed by a diversity of coastal conservation stakeholders, and a review of existing marine and terrestrial conservation plans, strategies, and studies. The results of this project are presented in the final report - Linking Land and Sea: A Northern California Coastal Conservation Needs Assessment. The report includes quantitative results of regional surveys; summaries from regional discussions and interviews with key stakeholders; identification and discussion of the priority needs; and specific recommendations meeting these needs.
