The Lafayette Elementary Remote Drop Off (SRTS) Program aims to increase the number of students safely walking and bicycling to school by using a combination of infrastructure and creative non-infrastructure strategies. A location will be selected where parents can drop off or pick up their child/ren and the child/ren can safely walk the rest of the way to school on their own. The installation of new infrastructure, including sidewalk infill, raised crosswalks, bulbouts and intersection redesign from the Remote Drop Off location to the school will provide a safe route for children and families. An education and encouragement program is designed to improve health by providing more opportunities for physical activity for students and families, by including pedestrian education, district-wide workshops, and support for walk to school events
