Rio Dell Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Safety Improvement Project
The City of Rio Dell received an Active Transportation Program Cycle 2 grant that will improve pedestrian and bicycle safety around Belleview Street, Davis Street, and the intersection of US 101 and Wildwood Ave. The project was designed to address the need for a safe, non-motorized connection from neighborhoods to downtown. This project also includes a non-infrastructure component that will provide education and encouragement programs for Eagle Prairie Elementary School students. NRS staff has been providing fun, interactive pedestrian and bicycle safety education lessons to 2nd and 5th graders as well as coordinating regular Walk and Roll events. The project also includes the development of a walking and bicycling map with suggested routes to further support safe active commuting to and from school.
