RCAA collaborated with Alta Planning + Design and GHD to support the Mendocino Council of Governments in developing a vision for a rail with trail along the Northwestern Pacific Railroad right-of-way throughout Mendocino County. A corridor plan was needed to identify and pursue a comprehensive approach to local jurisdictions developing trails along the rail corridor. The Corridor Plan provided an analysis of general conditions along the length of the 103-mile corridor and identified priority rail with trail projects for the Cities of Ukiah and Willits and the County of Mendocino. RCAA led the community outreach component of the plan and assisted with trail planning field reconnaissance along the rail corridor. Since completion of the plan, the City of Ukiah has designed and built Phase I of rail with trail through Ukiah.
