Workshops and Technical Training

Education has been a core service at NRS since its inception in 1983. RCAA became Humboldt County’s “Employer of Record” for the U.S. Forest Service “Jobs-In-the-Woods” (JITW) program in 1995. NRS developed a program for unemployed timber and fisheries industry workers that provided 200 classroom hours and over 1,000 field hours of training in natural resource restoration and management. More recently, NRS staff has offered classroom and in-field workshops on watershed restoration, revegetation, rural roads Best Management Practices (BMPs), stormwater BMPs, and Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination.
